The ‘buncheong sagi’ (grayish-blue-powdered celadon) of Gyeryongsan is recognized as one of the three major ceramic arts in Korea along with the inlaid celadon of Gangjin, Jeollanam-do and cheonghwa white porcelain of Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. The celadon porcelains manufactured in Gongju earned the name Gyeryongsan Buncheong because of its unique characteristics that set it apart from those produced in other regions. The festival includes a number of interesting programs such as the Seonin Cheolhwa Buncheong Sagijang Ritual, International Ceramic Art Exhibition, Open Studio, and Outdoor Kiln Firing.
