Byeonsanbando, Jirisan Mountain, Hallasan Mountain, Seoraksan Mountain, and other parts of Korea.
This perennial has only one flower at the tip of each stem. The flower is white or light pink in color.
This plant was first reported in Korea in 1993. It was named Byeonsan Baram Kkot (Byeonsan Wind Flower) in Korean because it was first found in Byeonsanbando.
It looks like a loach, but it has 5~10 stripes on the lower part of each side, and a thick stripe on the back.
It lives in cold clear water with lots of sand, pebbles, and rocks.
It was first discovered in 1982 and named ‘Buan Jonggae’ in Korean in 1987. Their number reduced greatly after Buan Dam was built in September 1995.
